How is education and training handled in a way that preserves equality?

For any society to succeed, there needs to exist some quantity of highly trained professionals like doctors, scientists, engineers, etc. however, these jobs require significantly more learning, training, and experience than any manual labor or farming work would require. So my question is, how do we maintain some number of these professions without a)incentivizing and b)creating a hierarchy based on education? It would be impossible to educate everyone.

Furthermore, it’s hard to imagine any way that education wouldn’t lead to the development of some sort of hierarchy. I am terrible at math, for example. Others are very good at math, but this isn’t because of any inherent inequality in the education me and the hypothetical other person received.
